A cold and windy summer evening in Steninge Halland
One of my favourite places in Sweden is the west coast in Halland. My first memories, from this coast goes back to the 60: s racing down a snow-covered sand dune on a red sled. I have been camping here during beautiful summer weeks but this time bringing the family I rented a cabin – which turned out to be a good choice because the weather decided to show us that the summer is not always filled with warm sunny days. I wanted to take a photo that captured the cold and windy feeling. This type of picture can be done in daylight with a grey filter, a tripod and adjusting the colours in photoshop. The grey filer makes is possible to have a long enough exposure time to show the movement of the water. The tripod is necessary to hold the camera still during the long exposure. In photoshop it is easy to change the temperature of the picture to blue to give the cold feeling. Not having a tripod nor a grey filter and not wanting to “fake” the blue cold felling I decided to wait to late that evening when the light was low enough to have a long exposure and the light was naturally blue. Instead of a tripod I located a place on the rocks where I could place the camera, so I got the view I wanted. After fine tuning the camera position by folding my jacket under the camera. I used the timer with 2 sec delay. Camera canon 5D, EF 100 mm f2.8L Macro IS USM Lens, 30 seconds exposure time, ISO 50 and f 11.
