Closing in on the Rose chafer
Even if this bird-like figure has a slight resemblance to human rock carvings it is as far from it at it can be. This is a small detail of the abdomen of the beetle Rose chafer (Cetonia aurata). For this photo I used a Polarized light and a Nikon plan fluor 20x ELWD 20x NA 0.45 microscope objective and a Canon 6D. This is a focus stack, stacked in Zerene Stacker. I have processed the pictures in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Before stacking I usually handles dust spots in Lightroom. I have a video on this page about that; Choosing software for focus stacking step two – basic retouching.
